With thanks to The Noisy Brain and Kate Dulson, here are some resources for journaling or writing lyrics to benefit mental health π

Some journal prompts that may be helpful to start writing:
- write some reflections on the lyrics from a song you like
- write 5 words about how you currently feel, then why you chose them
- write a letter to…..your younger/older self, someone you admire, someone you have unsaid stuff with
- write your recovery story
- write a song or lyrics
Friend of HMT and creative writing therapist Kate Dulson, also offered these prompts and suggested the below free resource:

Writing Lyrics
Stu from the noisy brain offers the following ideas about having a go at writing lyrics (when he says ‘break’ you could include a breakdown as in lots of metal instead, if you wished ;))
Share your Story
Sometimes, the stuff we write in journals is deeply personal and not for sharing. However, for those that would like to share aspects of their writings, we accept recovery stories and blogs at HMT and The Noisy Brain. The Noisy Brain also accept writings to be used as lyrics, and have an app that can be accessed here. HMT and The Noisy Brain teamed up with Alpha Kinetic to do a metal/industrial song as part of The Noisy Brain project, which you can listen to here:
