We had our first Scottish in person event at Rock Con Edinburgh and Matt shared with us his experience:

Tony, Matt and Rebbecca at Rock.con

Sunday March 3rd 2024 Rock Con, Heavy Metal Therapy maiden voyage in Scotland

In 2023 I was given the opportunity to represent and work alongside my friends at Heavy Metal Therapy, promoting and talking about what we do, firstly at Primordial General Mayhem. Stepping well out of my comfort zone, making new friends and having a great time chatting to people about mental health and heavy music.  The second opportunity to chat HMT stuff with folks rolled around at Bloodstock later that year, working with The Order Of The Black Sheep, helping out with the welfare tent.  From these two experiences I knew I wanted to have a shot at having a stall for HMT in Scotland. At the time it was just me on my own and the goal felt far away.  However, when we were able to then bring fellow locals Tony Douglas and Rebbecca Staff on board it started to become a reality.

Thanks to seeing a post shared from the Moshville times we found out about Rock Con happening in Edinburgh, which seemed like a perfect opportunity. Contact was made with the organiser Katie Wills, who sorted us out with a vendors table.  To say I was nervous is an understatement, as this time I’d be in charge, an active part of setting up the stall and chatting about what it is we get up to at HMT.

Sunday March 3rd 2024 came. No excuses or back outs now. It was time to pack the HMT stuff into the car and make my way to Edinburgh.  Once the event began at the Wee Red Ber organiser Katie took some time to give us all a run down of what was going ahead for the event: A guitar clinic, a panel with a Q and A (with Kim Rennie; one of the lads from Scottish band Paper Sailor, Michael Wilson; and promoter Duncan Mountain).  This was followed by a talk from Dominique Harvey from Seabass Vinyl, currently the only vinyl pressing plant in Scotland.

Some fantastic new friends of HMT were made on the day. Having the opportunity to network with Kim Rennie, Dan AKA Bare Mammoth showing off his fantastic oversized guitar picks, who was kind enough to make us one with the HMT logo on it. This will be proudly displayed at all future stalls in Scotland for HMT.  It was a pleasure to spread the word of HMT alongside Tony and Rebbecca, and I was glad to finally meet them and have them as part of the team.

Thank you Katie Wills, who organised and put together the event, for having the team at Rock Con. Wish you good luck for the event in Glasgow, keep up the fantastic work.
